Subaru of America Inc. has combined precollision braking, adaptive cruise control and land departure warnings to create its EyeSight driver assistance system for vehicles. The system, which will reportedly be available later this year, mounts inside a car on the upper edge of the windshield and uses images that relate to the EyeSight computer to help a car slow down or alert the driver to danger.When driving at speeds below 19 mph, its precollision braking system detects obstacles in the car's path and if the driver doesn't apply the brakes, the system will do so to help avoid contact. Subaru says, "Precollision braking is always on in the background to act like a second set of eyes for the driver."
