DOL's Working Partners for an Alcohol- and Drug-Free Workplace has added two new resources to its website to help employers and others maintain alcohol- and drug-free workplaces. A new fact sheet-Top 12 Reasons a Good Drug-Free Workplace Goes Bad-addresses common pitfalls that can undermine the effectiveness of a drug-free workplace program and offers strategies that organizations can use to avoid them. Developed with input from small business and labor union representatives, it provides guidance on how to maximize a program's impact from perspectives such as safety, productivity, and employee needs and support. It also offers explanations for concerns about drug testing, including perceptions about its invasiveness and lack of effectiveness.
