Nationwide is to carry out its first loan portfolio sale, which could be as large as €900m. The building society is to put up for sale most of its German real estate loan book. The portfolio is understood to be non-performing and the value of the underlying assets is below the total face value of the loans. Nationwide has appointed Deloitte to oversee the process. The value of the loans for sale is expected to be between €700m and €900m, depending on the amount of loans it decides to remove for retention.
