Swindon Borough Council has embarked on the next phase of the transformation of the Victorian-era GWR Carriage Works running along London Street which it hopes will form the hub of a digital cluster in the town. Three of the nine sheds plus an undercroft totalling 19,900 sq ft are being refurbished and converted in the current phase of the regeneration project. Unit 11 will house the £1.35m Cultural Heritage Institute, part of the Royal Agricultural University, and the council has mid-sized technology occupiers in mind for the remaining space in units seven and nine as part of its plan to establish a grouping of innovation businesses in the facility.
