On 17 August 2007, PSSC and the Philippine Political Science Association (PPSA) jointly hosted the re-dedication and blessing of the Loretta Makasiar-Sicat Boardroom, with Dr. Makasiar-Sicat herself as the guest of honor. PSSC Executive Director Virginia Miralao thanked Dr. Makasiar-Sicat and her husband, Dr. Gerardo Sicat, for gracing the event, and stressed that the modernization of the Boardroom was in keeping with the Council's ongoing efforts to keep the Philippine Social Science Center attractive and in good working condition. Dr. Miralao recalled that the establishment of the Center was one of the legacies of Dr. Makasiar-Sicat during her stint as PSSC Executive Director, and mentioned that Dr. Gerardo Sicat as former Director-General of the National Economic and Development Authority also played a key role in the construction of the PSSCenter and in ensuring the financial stability of PSSC. Members of PPSA and colleagues from the Department of Political Science of the University of the Philippines, including Dr. Carmencita Aguilar, Prof. Felipe Miranda, Dr. Olivia Caoili, Dr. Grace Jamon, Dr. Natalia Morales, Dr. Noel Morada, and Dr. Ma. Ela Atienza took turns in paying tribute to Dr. Makasiar-Sicat, citing not only her professional contributions, but also her many exceptional qualities as a teacher, colleague, and friend. Dr. Gerardo Sicat thanked PSSC and PPSA on behalf of the Sicat family, and shared the early efforts of the Council to secure funds for its various programs and to find a permanent home.
