Ahlstrom has signed an agreement to divest its Building & Wind business unit to Owens Corning. The initial debt and cash free purchase price, which is subject to EBITDA adjustment, is €73m, informs Ahlstrom. The Building & Wind business unit produces glassfibre tissue used mainly in flooring applications as well as reinforcements used in windmill blades. Two fires broke out last week at the Kimberly-Clark mill in Barrow-in-Furness, UK. According to reports from the local press and the Cumbria fire and rescue service, a fire broke out in a log saw machine in the evening on 13 January. In the early morning on 18 January, fire fighters were called again to the mill to put out a fire at a dust extraction system. No people were injured, but according to press reports the log saw machine was in need of "extensive repairs".
