Germany's corrugated board industry saw renewed growth in 2015. Member companies of the German association of the corrugated board industry (VDW) last year increased deliveries by 1.9% based on the number of working days. In absolute terms (i.e. not adjusted for the number of working days), VDW member companies delivered nearly 7.5 billion m~2 of corrugated board in 2015, 200 million m~2 or 2.7% more than in the previous year.The increase in the four quarters of the reporting year amounted to 0.5%, 2.3%, 2.7% and 5.5% respectively. "The increase is clearly higher than GDP growth, which amounted to 1.7% in 2015", said Dr Jan Klingele, chairman of VDW at the annual press conference of the association. Private consumption, which was the principal motor for economic growth last year, also made an impact on deliveries of corrugated board manufacturers.
