Negotiations on the new contracts for newsprint in Germany have stalled once again. It appears that despite some signed deals in neighbouring countries, contracts with major buyers in Germany have not yet been concluded. Printing companies and publishers blame "over-the-top expectations" of the paper manufacturers for the slow progress in the talks. However, producers are only willing to admit that some sellers are reluctant. At the moment, there are no price negotiations taking place for recycled corrugated case material. But if recovered paper prices were to fall, price discussions for corrugated base paper could also be initiated even though market conditions are very stable, believe industry observers. Recycled cartonboard manufacturers are striving to achieve a price hike.
