DS Smith has confirmed its acquisition of the Recycling Divison of Middleton Paper for an undisclosed sum. According to DS Smith, Middle-ton Recycling currently generates circa 9,000 t of fibre per year. Middleton Paper will remain an independent merchant and converter based in Walsall, West Midlands. Peter McGuiness, CEO of DS Smith, Recycling Division said, "The purchase of Middelton Recycling will allow us to target material and grow our presence (in the Birmingham region). It is a strategic fit for growing our business and extends out coverage in the area." As the largest fibre re-cycler in Europe, DS Smith recovers circa 5.4 m t of paper and packaging annually for recycling.
