Overcapacity, structural change and digitalisation burden the German printing sector. In 2012, the industry was not able to benefit from the development of the economy as a whole. This was one of the conclusions drawn by the German printing and media industries federation (bvdm) at its annual press conference in Frankfurt am Main. Drupa, the leading trade fair in this industry, and major advertising events such as the European Soccer Championship and the Olympic Summer Games failed to have the desired reviving effects on this sector.
