Just a few days before the negotiations on follow-up contracts for sawmill residue deliveries in the third quarter of this year will commence, major customer industries have not yet expressed a uniform stance towards pricing. Individual converters of sawdust and MDF/pulp chips are considering whether or not to start a discussion on lowering current sawmill residue prices when it comes to pre-negotiating prices of deliveries in the third quarter of 2010. In contrast, representatives from the sawmill industry are convinced that current prices should continue to be valid if not even rise slightly. This means that at present the opinions of the contracting parties involved are still differing relatively widely. As a result, both, buyers and suppliers do not expect concrete follow-up contracts before the first weeks of July.
