Employers are paying nearly $1.5 billion each year for medical errors that occur during or after surgeries, according to a recent government agency study.rnFor instance, insurance companies are paying $28,218 more for surgery patients who experienced acute respiratory failure and an additional $19,480 for patients with post-operative infections, compared with patients who recover from surgery without those complications.
