After a seemingly endless winter period the first Centralised competition of the year finally got underway at the Stansted Model Flying Club. A week earlier the first scheduled domestic competition at Skelbrooke had to be cancelled as the elements unloaded a glut of snow onto the country, preventing any access to prepare the site, let alone allow any flying. Almost inevitably the competition was held in strong, very cold cross winds, which apparently proved difficult for pilots to contend with following the winter break. I say that as car problems earlier in the week meant I had to pull out of this event at the last minute. Thirteen pilots eventually attended with seven in the top FAI P13 and F13 class. Of these entrants the top three places were convincingly taken by the UK F3A team who are due to attend the World Championships later this year.
