When I first reviewed the original version of the Mini Mag from Multiplex in the February 2007 issue of RCMW the motor that came with the model was a standard 6 volt Permax 400 with a 3:1 gearbox, but the model was sluggish and lacked performance with this set-up. At that time I chose another option that was available with the upgrade to the Permax 400DD and Gunther 5" x 4" prop. With the direct drive set-up the model flew reasonably well - suitable for a novice pilot, and would carry out elementary aerobatics, albeit with judicious use of the controls.
