It probably hasn't escaped your attention that a whole page of this month's SC is taken up with a plan. How did it get there? By a strange, circuitous route, that's how. Never have I had such a response to something that hadn't at the time appeared in this column! The subject of this plan, the 'Zephyr' from 1936 is one of my favourite vintage FF rubber designs. Originally published in 1936 in 'Flying Aces', the classic American aviation culture and aeromodelling title of that era, the Zephyr was reprinted in 'Model Builder' in the late 1970s. It was here that I first became acquainted with its quaint, curvy lines and I immediately built one that performed remarkably well outdoors in calm weather and nearly flew away a couple of times. Although I fancied building another through the decades, my copy of MB had vanished and other projects demanded attention. Although I mentioned it to a few modellers down the years, no one remembered it.
