The APY-8 is a small, lightweight synthetic aperture radar (SAR). As militaries around the world are increasingly relying on UAVs to provide reconnaissance and strike capabilities, small SARs are becoming more popular. Although the APY-8 suffered a number of setbacks in 2008, the system remains a viable option on international markets as it continues to be ordered for a wide variety of military applications.
