I have just been rearranging my antenna coax and power cables. I now run all the radio gear on 12V from a Nevada power supply and have made up a busbar with a plastic connector block, using banana plugs to terminate the wires. I have a Cross Country Wireless Multicoupler to feed five receivers from a discone antenna for VHF reception. I also have a low marine VHF antenna for broadcast FM and to use in the event of lightning close by, at which point I can switch the discone to an earth rod. For HF, I have a Cross Country Wireless HF Active Antenna (which has two feed cables), a Wellbrook loop and a Bonito whip antenna, which feed my AOR AR5000+3, Icom IC-R8500 and Yaesu FRG-100 receivers by various switches and two-way splitters. I wondered how other RadioUser readers label and manage the mass of cables and wires behind the shack bench or desk. If there is room, I think the best solution is to have the desk well away from any wall to allow good access. I do not have this room but use a large piece of plastic conduit on the wall, with suitable holes spaced for cables to exit. However, there is still a muddle. As far as labels go, I tried masking tape and pen, and Staedtler permanent marker on plugs. I now have a Dymo machine, which gives self-adhesive paper labels that and can be fixed across the cable as a tag or lengthways tight around the circumference but are still not 100 per cent effective. The pictures show some of my setup.
