摘要

Though the history of Burma is little known in the West, this Dictionary, one of the largest in the series, demonstrates that it has been a turbulent one. It comprises more than 800 articles, of between 50 and 1,500 words, on personalities, places, organizations, ethnic groups, customs and events in Burmese history, although about only 100 refer to the period before 1900. The text has in general been updated to the middle of 2016; although one refers to an event in January 2017, several others appear to have been written before the end of 2015.
