摘要

This collection, of two dozen articles, is the companion volume to The Last Statues of Antiquity project database "now freely available online" (p. v) (http://laststatues.classics.ox.ac.uk/), a concordance to which (listing 2,839 entries) is included. Throughout the book, all sculptural remains are referenced by their 'LAS' number. This book is divided into five sections: introductory chapters (one by each editor), Regions, Citie, and a section entitled Chronology, Honorands, Style. The last has a concluding chapter on The End of the Statute Habit, AD 284-620. The aim is to show how statues were used to honour individuals (mostly living), from the reign of Diocletian (CE 284-305) to that of Heraclius (CE 610-640).
