Few UK reference librarians and information workers will be unfamiliar with Social Trends. An essential weapon in the reference armoury of all non-specialist libraries, it has been published illustrate an assignment, it is a tool regularly used by those involved in social service delivery and policy formulation, other caring professions, marketing and advertising and journalism. Libraries, whether they persist with the print copy or promote the website, need to keep this publication at the forefront of their reference offering. Valuable, convenient and approachable it ranks as one of the most important UK focussed reference tools. No British librarian, even those in specialist alcoves, nor those overseas with an interest in the UK, should overlook Social Trends.
