For some operators targeting OCC, gummed up shafts on old screens may be enough to make them shift to a different equipment strategy. Amut Ecotech, a division of Italy-based equipment company Amut Group, makes a ballistic separator specially designed to separate OCC from smaller paper and other items. The company's MPC Series ballistic separator uses six long paddles moving in a wave motion to separate OCC from smaller papers. Specifically, the two output fractions are corrugate products sized larger than A4 (8.3 inches by 11.7 inches) and paper and other items sized smaller than A4.
