Located just south from where Seattle's Mariners swing their bats and the world-champion Seahawks roam the gridiron, the recently opened Recology CleanScapes Materials Recovery Facility sorts Emerald City-area residents' recyclables. The building that houses the new MRF used to be the warehouse for Washington's state-run liquor stores, previous to a ballot initiative that ended the Evergreen State's de facto monopoly on tippling. The facility which used to store bottles is now sorting bottles - and other materials - at a rate of 180 tons per day.
