In my August 2011 column, I discussed Web resources on the various incentives being used to reward residential participation in municipal recycling programs within the U.S. In general, this brief survey showed that while a variety of reward strategies have been used, the newest and biggest trend is the deployment of redemption-based reward (RBR) programs by hundreds of communities within the last five years.
