Fledgling RHA member Commercial Contract Engineers is nearly at the top of its game. But as Peter Shakespeare discovers the vehicle repair business is not without its problems. In December Rochdale-based Commercial Contract Engineers (CCE) will celebrate its 25th anniversary. The vehicle repairer posted a £3.2 million turnover in 2005, placing the business in the top four commercial vehicle repairers in the UK. The company's owner and managing director, Phil Ewbank (48), began working for CCE in 1981 after a chance meeting with its then owner. Ewbank says: 'I was an indentured apprentice mechanic at Spillers for four years until moving on as a qualified mechanic to Johnson's Coaches.
