The market for light commercial rotorcraft improved only slightly in 2017 but should be much better in 2018.The piston market improved substantially in 2017, with production increasing to 267 machines, from 226 the year before.The turbine market did not fare as well. Production in the turbine segment was slightly higher during the year than in 2016, but there was little evidence that momentum has shifted dramatically. Instead, 2017 wasmore of a year of leveling off in the turbine market, but we expect to see a significant increase in deliveries in 2018. Much of the increase will be due to Bell's ongoing ramp-up in deliveries of the 505 light single, but other manufacturers will also see higher levels of production during the year.
