In recent years, defense spending has been on the rise in many countries around the globe, including in the U.S. Much of this increased funding, though, has been spent on areas other than the procurement of military rotorcraft, such as on personnel and operations and maintenance. In addition, amid fiscal constraints and competing domestic priorities, the recent rise in U.S. defense spending appears to have peaked. The Pentagon's FY21 budget request is essentially flat in real terms compared to the FY20 budget. And, little or no real annual growth may be in store for the budget at least through FY25 and possibly beyond.
