Annual production of light military rotorcraft has grown fairly steadily in recent years, but the era of growth is rapidly coming to an end. Current acquisition programs are running their course, and few significant new procurement programs have emerged that would help keep military production rates rising, or even stable, at rotorcraft manufacturers. U.S. military demand is a large component of the global light military rotorcraft market, and has a considerable influence on the overall size and shape of the market. Illustrating this point, our market forecast indicates that more than 25 percent of all the light military rotorcraft built in the 2012-2021 time period will end up in the fleets of the U.S. armed forces.
