Turboshaft engine production remains in a slight decline, but this trend will reverse itself in 2012. The global economic crisis that began in 2008 continues to be felt more in the civil engine segment, with military helicopter procurement continuing almost without regard to current market conditions. The military turboshaft engine market continues to grow based on its need for increased mobility. Contributing to this in no small way is the U.S. military's recapitalization of several helicopter programs, and the planned purchase of aircraft from four current procurement programs.
