Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is considered a significant part of America's "energy export renaissance" and properly training the vessel inspectors and crews involved with this potentially dangerous commodity is becoming increasingly important. US LPG export capacity increased markedly in 2014 and continued to expand last year. Propane, a major component of LPG, is used as feedstock for propylene, which is used to make plastics. Increased demand for US-produced LPG is expected from China, which is getting ready to overtake Japan as the world's biggest LPG importer.
