In times of trouble, Samarco Mineracao is walking the less-traveled road. While cost-cutting and mergers are the order of the day elsewhere, the Brazilian mining and raw materials company has started an ambitious expansion project that will run through 2008. Stronger growth and better value creation are the goals of a project currently running at Samarco, one of the world's largest exporters of iron ore pellets. Business is so good that the company has just started construction of a third pellet manufacturing plant.
