The measurements of complex modulus G* of asphalt and aged Trinidad-Lake-Asphalt-modified (TLA-modified) asphalt were conducted through dynamic shear rheological test. This parameter was used to model the aging kinetics of both types of asphalt to evaluate and predict the rheological properties at different aging time and temperature. By detailed analysis, it was observed that the aging process of both types of asphalt follows first-order kinetics. Moreover, it was observed that the TLA-modified asphalt possess higher activation energy compared with the pure asphalt. It was also researched that the chemical reaction rate of the TLA-modified asphalt was lower than that of the ordinary asphalt, implying that the former has a more stable nature and TLA could improve the anti-aging properties of asphalt. The chemical reaction rate of TLA-modified asphalt after pressure aging (PAV) was 1.2 times that after rotary-thin-film-oven-testing (RTFOT) which indicating that at the same aging temperature of PAV-aging, i.e., 1 h, is equivalent to 1.2 h of RTFOT-aging.
