In the search for an appropriate national representative of the non-living domain of the country, the field geology of India has been examined, which suggests that the rock 'charnockite' with commendable characteristics be recognised as the 'national rock' of India. The opinion promotes a new idea of national interest, and it also has cultural relevance.
