Talk of AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome) and a dreadful shiver runs down the spine. The shiver has shades of shame as the causative culprit is a virus, called HIV or Human Immuno Deficiency Virus, that is notorious for spreading from one person to another through blood and body fluids, and is commonly known to get transmitted from an infected person to a new host through sexual contact. The other routes of transmission that are equally potent in spreading the virus are transfusion of infected blood, using infected needles and from infected mother to her newborn child.
