The Crew Systems Integration 2013 conference, held at RNLI Lifeboat College, Poole, UK, in July 2013 was hosted by FRC International, an education, training and qualification developei for Fast Response Craft (FRC) personnel. Human Systems Integration (HSI) is rapidly becoming more important for the professional rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RIB) and high speed craft sector as crew are required to perform increasingly complex tasks. The objective is for marine units to deal with new scenarios, make fast decisions and implement them using high speed craft and specialist equipment to achieve successful outcomes. Crew Systems Integration (CSI) brings together all these elements for the fast boat sector. The challenge for professional organisations is to integrate the many disparate areas that are required to deliver enhanced performance and safety.
