摘要

An optical splitter module is a key product for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployment in a passive optical -network (PON) system. In order to resolve the lack of installation space resulting from the rapid increase of FTTH deployment, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. and NTD~(*1) have developed 2 types of new compact splitter modules: "SMAP" and "SMS." SMAP can be installed in an existing distribution cabinet, enabling economical and efficient wiring in a multi dwelling unit (MDU). SMS allows optical fibers to be installed densely in a distribution cabinet. *1: Japan Communication Accessories Manufacturing Company, Ltd.
