The California Coastal Records Project is unique in the world in both the photography and the Internet access to the aerial photographs of the entire California coast. Nearly 110,000 oblique color aerial photographs, as well as a limited set of vertical images, are now available to anyone with access to the Internet. Extending back to 1972, these high-resolution images provide an invaluable database and historic record of coastal change and development, erosion and deposition, and construction and protection, and are widely used by researchers, private consultants, educators, and staff in local, state, and federal agencies.
