Introduction Sometimes, in pursuit of your well percolated vision, you have to break with convention and take a really big risk. In my last column I wrote about taking a risk in the CS classroom, scary events that followed, and the ultimate pedagogical payoff that made it all worth it. This month I introduce you to my latest, and to date largest, plunge off the deep end. Background Percolate long enough about something, and at some point you have to either drink the metaphorical coffee or pour it down the drain. This is where I found myself last summer. For a long time, my two strongest and most daunting percolations have been 1) how to achieve true interdisciplinary computing education, and 2) how to address the so-called "crisis in computing". Each issue is complicated (dare I call that an "understatement"?), and slippery, especially for the intrepid and untenured. Yet the challenges and potential payoff are exciting! It has been a joy to work with computing colleagues and students in these efforts. But gradually I realized that it was no longer sufficient for me to address either issue locally, or in isolation from the other. I had a grander vision of engaging a wider community. It was time to either drink or pour.
