摘要

Oscar Wilde once said, "Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing". Nonetheless, we are often more ignorant about the price than the value. For instance, human life or the environment is invaluable, but what about its price? We are not familiar with the concept of attaching a price tag to these subjects, "but that does not mean they do not have one", says Eduardo Porter, the author of The Price of Everything and now a member of The New York Times Editorial Board.
