Revisiting Aunt Fanny: Evaluating Professional Writing

摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine how practitioners evaluate professional writing. Social workers and psychiatrists were randomly presented with one of three case summaries and an assessment, purportedly written by a student. In fact, subjects were presented with the same general assessment. The average rating was between 3 and 5 on a 7-point scale. Statistically significant differences were attributable to theoretical orientation. Content analyses indicated concern with the use of jargon and failure to identify strengths.
