Past editorials have lamented current conditions and proposed some corrective action. This will he a change of pace. Let's take a look into the future and see how things ought to be. If there is sufficient agreement perhaps we may be able to chart out a journey together to our "final frontier." Today we think in terms of data and analysis. Tomorrow we must concentrate on information - the product of analysis. Answers are all important. Predicted availability, lifecycle cost and cost per unit output are essential information to measure and track performance. The seriousness of a problem, how long can operation continue safely and the time and cost required for corrective action are examples of information required by Operations/Production.
