This article presents an overview of the theoretical model, the Rules for the Exchange and Analysis of Dynamic Information READI that describes the pertinent variables and physical processes which control vibration data to be measured as well as how these data should be handled to generate realistic inputs for either a laboratory test or finite element simulation of a given test structure. Vibration test tailoring represents a subset of this theory. Past attempts to develop such a model were restricted to a single interface point between structural elements. Here, multiple interface points are considered as well as the use of external loading that can be acoustic, aerodynamic, magnetic, etc. Numerically simulated and experimental results are shown for deterministic and random signals.
