摘要

The spontaneous ignition of single fuel droplets was studied experimentally. The obser- vation by a Michelson interferometer enabled to detect cool flame, which has almost no light emission, as well as hot flame. The times required for cool and hot flame appear- ance (induction times) were measured. Two kinds of mixture, n-decane/1,2,4-trimethyl- benzene and n-decane/α-methylnaphthalene, were chosen as a two-component fuel so that two components in the mixture may have very different chemical properties.
