The European Union Satellite Centre (EUSC) in 2009 purchased 885 images collected by 15 different optical and radar satellites for European government military and crisis-monitoring purposes. More than 80 percent of the purchases were for images from U.S. commercial satellites operated by DigitalGlobe and GeoEye. In 2009, DigitalGlobe's OuickBird spacecraft accounted for about half the total imagery purchased, followed by DigitalGlobe's WorldView 1 and the GeoEye-1 satellites.
