摘要

I have a senior American scientist friend who is very dismissive about space policy. Policy is about talking and space is there for the doing. His "when I hear the words space policy I reach for my shotgun" approach is amusing and I often nod in agreement. However, it is not clear his attitude is right. He, like many people in the space business, relies on large amounts of taxes, other people's money, to do what he wants to do. Surely it is reasonable that there is an overall rationale behind what is done? The answer can only be positive and it follows that space policy is important and the contents of the present book deserve attention.
