摘要

This report presents a review of the main details of an internal picosatellite (picosat) road map. Picosats could drastically change the utilization of space resources in the commercial, civil, and government arenas. Picosatellites have strong applications to future responsive space, daughtership, and lunar and Mars constellation missions. This paper presents some of the key technology areas that have contributed to the development of these small satellites. This paper also concentrates on the ongoing effort in microtechnologies and nanotechnologies, particularly with micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), which have played key roles in the deployment of picosats. The intent of this report is to focus research efforts by reviewing the current state and key technologies to make picosats a viable alternative to traditional satellites.
