2000. október 25-e és 27-e között Budapest adott otthont a CEFS Tudományos és Kommunikációs Bizottsága 25., jubileumi konferenciájának. A magyar cukoripar 1997 óta tagja a CEFS-nek, s eddigi tevékenysége elismeréseként nyerte el az éves konferencia rendezési jogát. Az uniós határokon kívül először hazánkban került megrendezésre a tanácskozás. A CEFS (Comité Européen des Fabricants de Sucre) az európai cukorgyártókat és nádcukorfinomítókat tömörítő érdékképviseleti szervezet. Bizottságain keresztül védi és képviseli a cukoripar érdekeit az Európai Unió intézményeinél, valamint más nemzetközi szervezeteknél.%25th jubilee CEFS/CSC International PR and Promotion Conference was held between 25th and 27th of October in Budapest. Participants of the meeting looked over the trends of sugar consumption and the market situation of the alternative sweeteners. Internationally acknowledged experts expressed their opinion based on scientific achievements and shared their experiences in the topics examined by Communication and Scientific Committee, communication activity in order to improve the consumer-attitude towards sugar and to maintain the level of sugar consumption.
