David Fisher's analysis of the role of morality in foreign policy is timely and closely argued.1 The topic is a perennial concern. It exercises the minds of both politicians and academics, increasingly so in a world plagued with man-made disasters that are brought into living rooms by real-time media reporting. This forces governments to at least give thought to the possibility of intervention to end the gross abuse of human rights.
