Georg Sorensen is a friend of liberalism and of liberals, but a moderate, critical, and often sceptical one. He submits all the recent or current debates on a liberal world order, from Francis Fukuyama's The End of History and the Last Man and Samuel Huntington's The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order through Robert Kaplan's The Coming Anarchy, Anne-Marie Slaughter's A New World Order, G. John Ikenberry's Liberal Leviathan, Robert Kagan's The World America Made and Charles Kupchan's No One's World to a fair and sympathetic review, and concludes for each that it is either too optimistic or too pessimistic in its overarching view.
