摘要

This collective work is an engaging account of the transformations and trends in libraries during the digital age. The editors organized the contributions in 10 chapters, and aside from the opening chapter on the historical background of the profession, each chapter tackles a structural sector of the library world. The contributors, mostly librarians with health sciences affiliations, write from an array of perspectives that are not explicitly confined to the medical library setting. They scrutinize the key elements of the librarian-ship spectrum, including collection development, information organization, reference and user services, research data management, online teaching methodologies, professional competencies, leadership, and strategic planning.
