This is one of my favorite sites in terms of simplicity of design and logical organization. All pages include a top identification banner with links to various resources of University of Virginia Library and a bottom banner with the address, telephone and fax numbers of the library, links to the Cataloging home page and the university library home page, and copyright information. The home page is designed using a three-column layout. The left-side column includes the department's mission statement and main site navigation. The central section includes an attractive graphic that visually presents what cataloging is all about and a link to important current information (in this case, temporary procedures for the local cataloging system while a de-dupping project in running). The right-side column includes two boxes: a spotlight on e-journal access problems and a section of quick links to frequently used resources.
